Eastern Softball head coach Brittany Stroop was honored to throw out the the ceremonial first pitch at Upper Providence Little League Day, celebrating the dedication of a new field and the Little League Derby. Coach Stroop and Eastern Softball players have been partnering with UP Little League all year, helping them with clinics and instruction. Eagles’ Emily Houck and Haleigh Williams have also been volunteering as fall ball coaches.

Eastern Women’s Golf partnered with the NCAA and the Special Olympics on Sunday to help 20-year-old Brayden, a member of the Lake County Special Olympics chapter, learn how to play golf. Brayden was a beginner at golf, but he had a great time learning the game from the Eagles, who were glad to be able to use their talents to give back.

Eastern Baseball hosted a “Squeak on the Creek” fundraiser racing dog toys down a creek on campus. Eastern Baseball donated the squeaky toys to Main Line Animal Rescue. Here’s one of the dogs playing with one of the donated toys.

Eastern Women’s Soccer helped out at City Team Ministries in Chester, Pa., working in their food pantry and helping prepare for City Team’s Easter activities.

The Eagles are partaking in 100 hours of service this spring in preparation for their trip to Africa. The Eagles are trying to raise money to go to Africa in May and are asking fans to sponsor them for every hour of service they put in (like a walk-a-thon).

On Feb. 22, Eastern Athletics will host members of The Sandy Ground Project in an effort to raise awareness of the work that group is doing to promote healing following a pair of tragic events.
The Sandy Ground Project is an initiative which aims to build 26 playgrounds in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. Each playground is built to honor the memory of one of the 26 individuals killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Each of the playgrounds, with the approval of the families, is built to try to reflect some element of the personality of the student or teacher that was lost.

Eastern University Baseball hosted a clinic at Eisenhower Middle School for Norristown Little League on Jan. 27. The baseball team helped these future baseball stars in a fun night of drills and whiffle ball.

Eastern University freshman student-athlete Emily Cole shares her God-given burden for children around the world. Emily and her sister Andrea started a non-profit called “Honduran Soles” to collect shoes for children first in Honduras and in other countries around the world.

The Cole sisters are from Lewisburg, Pa.

Emily starts on the Eastern University Women’s Soccer team.

Eastern Men’s Lacrosse has been working this semester with Chore Connection to help low-income senior citizens in Delaware County with around-the-house projects. The lacrosse team has taken time on weekends to fix roofs, window wells, and remove garbage among other projects.

Eastern University Baseball worked together as a team on Oct. 20 to help a local family in the program’s first ever Paint-a-Thon. The Baseball team spent the afternoon doing exterior painting. Fans of Eastern baseball made pledges of support to the “painters”, allowing the Eagles to pay for painting supplies to help this family and also helping them raise funds for the upcoming season.
